The AI Interaction Outcome Profile (AIOP)

Instruments the person rather than the technology. Six domains, each running from a harm pole to a benefit pole, read against the person's own baseline.

What it does

Every control currently governing conversational AI in health and care assesses the technology; none instruments the person. The Profile is a longitudinal outcome instrument across six domains — displacement to supplementation, agency, epistemic stance, regulation in absence, human alliance, disclosure pattern — each bipolar, each read against the person's own baseline. Its construct validity is mapped against the human-factors literature in a separate note.

When it is used

Seventh. Over time, paired with the Screen: the Screen assesses at the gate, the Profile measures the trajectory.

The worksheet itself, lifted intact from that record, is stage 7 of The Instrument Deck.

Construct validity of the Profile against the human-factors literature is mapped in a separate note.

Papers that bear on it

  • The AI Interaction Risk Screen — Standing instrument. A practitioner-facing screen for how a person's AI use is functioning in their life, on the axis that matters: displacement or supplementation. Version 1.1 after structured review.
  • The Endless Shift — Machine temperament as a clinical safety property: the public has converged, unprompted, on stable personality descriptions of the major models, and that convergence is data.
