The Moat

A clinically grounded approach to safe AI deployment.

What it is

The Heartbeat Framework is a framework for putting safety at the centre of deployment, and for keeping advanced AI out of the environments it would make worse. It was written by a registered mental health nurse from sixteen years of clinical practice, for the people who run 24-hour care.

Why: the deployment risk equation

SAFETY = CAPABILITY × CULTURE

Deployment risk is capability multiplied by culture. Regulation assesses the first term. This estate instruments the second.

A capable system does not fix the team it joins; whatever a machine integrates into, it amplifies. Put an advanced system into a negative environment and it scales what is already wrong. So the gate comes before the deployment: check the culture, get the human team in order, and only then let the machine in.

Why it holds

  • Clinical
    It starts where care happens, not in a laboratory, and is written by someone who answers for it by name.
  • Gatekeeping
    The Instrument Deck runs in the order a deployment meets it, and the first stage is the gate.
